MLC offers a wide selection of courses (click here to view the full course catalog) in topics including

  • Creed
    • This subject provides the student with an overview of the essentials of Islamic belief as per the two testifications of faith: 1) The belief in Allah, what is befitting to ascribe to Allah and what is not befitting and 2) The belief in Prophet Muhammad and his truthfulness in everything he conveyed from Allah regarding the Angels, Paradise, the Day of Judgment, the weighing of deeds, and other matters. This subject also discusses the importance of protecting one’s belief and how one does so. In the more advanced courses, students will study the Creed of at-Tahawiyy, an essential book to master for Muslims young and old and a gem authored by a scholar renowned worldwide both in his time and nowadays.
  • Fiqh
    • Allah revealed in Suratul-Baqarah { إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ } meaning: {Indeed Allah accepts those who repent and those who perform purification}. In seeking the means of obedience to Allah and following this blessed verse, this subject focuses on the various acts of worship and how to perform them properly by learning the integrals and conditions for the types of worship including purification, prayer, fasting, Hajj, Zakah, and others.
  • Islamic Manners
    • The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said
إن المؤمن ليبلغ بحسن خلقه درجة الصائم القائم
Meaning that adhering to good manners can earn the believer reward equaling that of praying optional prayers and night and fasting a lot of optional fast. Learning the good manners taught by the Prophet also entails learning about ill behavior so as to be aware of it and more equipped to avoid it. Al-Bukhariyy related from the companion Hudayfah ibnul Yaman:
كان الناس يسألون رسول الله عن الخير وكنت أسأله عن الشر مخافة أن يدركنى
In which he said that others used to ask the Prophet about good things to do, while I used to ask him about bad things so that I may avoid them.
  • Qur’aan Recitation and Memorization
    • The Prophet Muhammad said:
      خيركم من تعلم القرءان وعلمه
This hadith means: “Among the best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it” In compliance with this blessed hadith and in honoring the book of Allah, we strive to offer the best instruction focused on not only memorizing Qur’an but facilitating for students to learn to read the Qur’an by doing targeted exercises to help pronounce letters or words that may seem difficult.
  • Tafseer (Interpretation of Qur’aan)
    • Allah revealed
إن هذا القرءان يهدى للتى هى أقوم
meaning “Indeed, القرءان guides to the righteous path.” Proper understanding of the meanings of the verses of al-Qur’aan is essential for one to act in accordance to the teachings of al-Qur’aan and fully benefit from its guidance. We endeavor in delivering authentic interpretations relying on classical texts of famous interpreters of القرءان.
  • Islamic History
    • This subject will cover a wide variety of topics related to critical aspects of Islamic history. Such topics are important to understand to help foster a sense of Muslim identity in the youth and reinforce that among our adult learners. These courses and the lessons entailed therein provide powerful motivation for both our teachers and students to strive for success in this life and the Hereafter.
  • Hadith
    • This subject pertains to learning about the various sayings, actions, and manners of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Indeed, learning about the hadith is an essential component for us to more closely follow the example of our Prophet and develop a present heart. That is, for us to be conscious of how to conduct ourselves in our daily lives in the best way and to maintain the sincere intention for the sake of Allah alone in our good deeds.
  • Arabic (for speakers and non-speakers)
    • Understanding the Arabic language is critical to understanding the texts of the Religion. There are many facets of the Arabic language that are necessary tools for proper understanding of the religious texts including Nawh (grammar), Sarf, Balaghah, etc. We concentrate on the material needed for a solid foundation in Nawh, as it is key to proper comprehension of the meanings of the genuine Arabic spoken at the time of the honorable Prophet.

Courses are offered at various times during the day, after school, and weekends. Courses target children as well as adults, with children courses targeting three different age ranges.
